Mixed-Media Drawings

Welcome to my 'Drawings' page. I've been doing a lot of drawing lately: a few pieces just pen and ink; most are prismacolor pencil and ink, and possibly have acrylic paint embellishment as well. These are all smaller works (nothing larger than 8" x 10"), and most of them are 'light', as in humorous, happy, fun pieces. Sometimes cartoony, a little. Below are my newest drawings (new works always at the top, except the Zodiac cats which I am keeping together toward the bottom of the page), with a few words about them and each small image clicks to a full-page view.

Thanks for visiting, and do return soon as I'll be adding new works as I get them finished. Most of these pieces are available as prints or greeting cards, click the 'Catalog' link at the top or bottom of the page for details. In the cases where the originals are also available for sale I've noted that. Questions/comments about my works are always appreciated, just click on the 'eMail Me' link at the top or bottom of any page.

........"Clothes-Giving Cat"

I made this one for Molly, who gave me so many 'warm comfies' to get me through this cold winter!

Right: "Clothes Cat", Prismacolor; ink and acrylic on illustration board, 5"w x 7"h. Original is a gift to Molly. Prints and greeting cards available. Click the image for a larger view.

........"The Can-Do Guy"

This one is for my Doctor, who really gets the job done!

........"Angel Nurse"

"Little Thief & Cookie"
The Yin Yang Cats

My contribution to the idea of cats creating a Yin Yang Symbol (And yes, I know, like Astrology Cats, many have been done!). While I was working on this picture the cats' names just popped into my head, so 'Little Thief' and 'Cookie' it is.

Left: "Yin Yang Cats", Prismacolor; ink and acrylic on Master's illustration board, 8"w x 8"h. Original has been sold. Prints and greeting cards available. Click the image for a larger view.

........"Orchid"

This dolled-up Fairy Cat Girl named 'Orchid' has encountered a group of Devas (nature/plant spirits). One has chosen to show herself in Fairy form, and puts on a little show for O. Since Devas can take many forms, others she sees on the vine in front of her appear as birds, while behind her more of the Deva tribe are checking her out!

This was just a fun-to-do picture, using a lot of different purples, which honestly is my favorite color although I seldom wear it myself!

Right: "Orchid", Prismacolor; ink and acrylic on Master's illustration board, 6.5"w x 11"h. Original has been sold. Prints and greeting cards available. Click the image for a larger view.

"Wind Sky Warrior"

This piece was inspired by my recent "Tara or Lily" painting: a piece that is not for sale but everyone has expressed a liking for. I decided to do something in a similar color and with a similar 'atmosphere', if you will. I am at this time working on a series of representations of women as warriors for a future publication, and so this woman is a warrior too: probably a Guardian rather than an agressor. This young Warrior-Woman from a far away land heads out for her day on patrol, with her trusty companion cat in arm. I had fun with the color and design on her costume; and was inspired in it by the current fashion return of Gauchos (We wore those when I was in high school!). I leave her culture and the specifics of her life to your imagination...

Left: "Wind Sky Warrior", Prismacolor; ink and acrylic on Master's illustration board, 8.5"w x 11"h. Original has been sold. Prints and greeting cards available. Click the image for a larger view.

"Winter Tree Goddess"

A Maiden, Mother and Crone, living representations of The Goddess, wait, sheltered by the loving presence of the Late-Winter Tree Goddess. Life is already stirring: can you see the sap rising? Spring is coming soon!

Right: "Winter Tree Goddess", Prismacolor; Conte; ink and acrylic on Master's illustration board, 8.5"w x 11"h. Original has been sold. Prints and greeting cards available. Click the image for a larger view.

"Celtic Goddess Rhiannon"

One of my many Goddess pieces, this one features Rhiannon, Celtic (Welsh) Lunar Goddess of horses, dreams, and aid in struggles. Her story is a lengthy and complex one, and I would like to revisit it in future pieces containing more symbolism referring to that intricate story. Meanwhile, here is a simple portrait of the Goddess with her white horse.

Left: "Rhiannon", Pen and ink on Master's illustration board, 7"w x 10"h. Prints and greeting cards of this image are available. Click the image for a larger view.

"SweetHeart"

Just a sweet and pretty piece starring a lady cat in a red hat.

Right: "SweetHeart", Prismacolor; Conte; ink and acrylic on Master's illustration board, 7"w x 10"h. For sale: $35.00 - eMail me for more info. Prints and greeting cards available too! Click the image for a larger view.

"Cats of the Zodiac"

I never need an excuse to draw or paint cats! I've wanted lately to do something with an astrological theme (and have had requests), so I decided to do Cats of the Zodiac. A Google search showed me that this is far from an original idea: there are a zillion Zodiac cats out there all ready! But why not a few more, with my own personal twist? I like the idea of cats' tails being a communication device: in this case they use their tales to form the symbol for each sign, and add a little sign-appropriate 'personality' to boot. As I get all the signs done I'll add them here, and I think when they're all done I'll do the planets next!

Right: "Aries Cats", left: "Taurus Cats", below in descending order: "Gemini Cats"; "Cancer Cats". All pen and ink and brush and ink; 6" to 8"w. Originals are not for sale at this time: however prints, greeting cards, and ACEOs (art trading cards) pocket-sized prints are available.

"Tarot Card Back Design"

This is a potential back design for one of my in-progress Tarot decks. It incorporates images from my personal symbol system as they relate to Tarot: Clocks (time), certain plants, horses, cats, archaeological artifacts, women who swim or fly. This symbolism is relevant to my Dream Tarot, but I like the design so well I also use it as a back design for all my Tarot ACEOs (Art Trading Cards).

Right: "Tarot Card Back Design", pen and ink, brush and ink, on bristol board. 8.5"w x 11"h. Original not for sale; prints and cards available.

My Personal Logo

This design is from last year: I decided I wanted something new for my business cards, letterhead, etc., as I had been using the same design on them since about 2001 I think! So I did this up in pen and ink, and it was the first thing I had done in that medium for about the same length of time! It shows me with my work materials and a couple of friends from both the physical and ethereal planes! When I did the piece I realized I had forgotten how much I enjoy drawing, and it was at that time that I decided to start drawing more often: hence the works on this page! So I leave you with it as my last offering here.

Left: "Personal Logo", 8.5"w x 11"h, pen and ink, brush and ink on archival illustration board. You get this image anytime you see me if you ask, as it is on my business cards; and whenever you make a purchase thru any of my online outlets, as it is also on my Certificate of Authenticity.

I will be adding new works regularly to this page, but am not gonna let it get a lot 'longer' - I will be stacking thumbs of the older stuff down here at the bottom that you can click to see a larger view. Haven't quite got to that point yet though! To see all my works except Trading Cards - new and old; images only - please go to my Catalog page!
